NEW FRIDAY, MONDAY & SUNDAY CLASSES SCHEDULE

STARTS THIS FRIDAY

After two years of huge growth in all our classes, I have assessed their effectiveness and decided to make some changes. These are quite comprehensive so please read on.

Why are classes changing?

The last two years have seen a huge amount of growth in our school which is fantastic, however this has led to large classes with a range of abilities. To adequately serve everyone's needs, we are introducing an intermediate level class in both studios. The changes will also allow for more practice of dances, and focus on the basics, to ensure people are learning dances properly, remembering them, and improving (instead of just half knowing a long list of dances).

What is changing?

The main change will be the introduction of an intermediate class and a technical class. The new schedule will be (Mondays in Torquay & Fridays in Geelong):

6:30pm - Intro Class: A short class which introduces you to dancing.

7:00pm - Intermediate Class: Once you've been in the intro class a few months, join this class to learn longer routines. This is a Crystal / Bronze level class.

7:30pm - FREE Practice: a run through of all 15 dances taught in the intermediate class.

8:00pm - Coffee Break

8:15pm - Advancement Class: The next step up - longer routines and more complex dances. This is a Silver / Gold class.

8:45pm (Torquay) - FREE Practice - a run through of all 15 dances taught in the advancement class.

8:45pm (Geelong) - Comp / Medal Practice Class - New Vogue (8:45pm) Ballroom (9:00pm) Latin (approx 9:30pm)

Which class should I join?

The new intermediate classes sit somewhere between the previous introduction and advancement classes. If you felt ready to move on from the intro class, but not quite at the advancement level then intermediate is for you. Likewise, if you felt you needed additional help or wanted to go over dances in the advancement class, then the intermediate is for you.

If you’re unsure, you can email us. The full class list is here and practice / dance list is here - have a look at the list to see where you fit best. Or why not attend 2 classes?

In the first 2 weeks of class, we will be allowing people to change between classes for free if they find they’re in the wrong one.

New Technique Class

A new Technique Class will run on Sundays at 6:30pm from May 7th. This is a must for everyone wanting to dance properly, each week we focus on a style of ballroom and latin and learn the finer points of technique.

The experienced class on Sundays will no longer run - thanks to everyone who supported this class!

When is this changing?

Friday classes will start this Friday 14th April. The new format will commence in Torquay on Monday 1st May after the Anzac break. The technique class will commence on Sunday 7th May 2023.

I appreciate that this is a lot of change and info, but over time it will be bring us much more and much better dancing. Please let me know if you have any questions!
