Australian Dancesport Championships
The 76th Australian Championships are in Melbourne this weekend (Fri 9th, Sat 10th and Sun 11th). The weekend is packed with the best dancers from around the country. Tickets have sold out, but the Australian Dancing Society is providing free live streaming of the event here. Tune in during the weekend to see some great dancing and best of luck to Ballroom Baby’s own Christina and Terry, who will be competing in the Masters 3 C Grade (Friday) and Open (Saturday). I would also recommend the Adult Open and Professional events on Sunday as a highlight.
Christmas Party
Please join us for an end of year celebration. Book via email and pay at the door. Monday 12th December 7:30pm in Torquay and Friday 16th December 7:30pm in Geelong.
Start and Finish Dates for Classes!
Please take note of the following start and finish dates for the holidays.
Change to Class Prices:
As time moves on and the price of everything is increasing, we need to make increases to the price of all classes. We plan to increase prices a maximum of once per year. Take advantage of our class pass rates online here. We are having a sale on Class Passes from now until 13th January. Simply enter the code EXISTING22 at the checkout, to purchase a class pass for $80. I hope you continue to see the great value of our teachers and community.
From 1st January, all classes are $12 cash, $13 on card, or $99 for a ten class pass.
Private Lessons over summer:
Each instructor will choose their own work pattern over the summer holiday. Please contact your instructor to see what their plans are. No lessons will be taken at our Geelong studio between the dates of Mon 16th Jan and Fri 20th Jan due to improvement works.
Practicing over the Summer:
As always, you are encouraged to practice over summer. Ballroom Baby offers an summertime practice hire service, where you can access our Geelong studio at any time for $50 a month per couple or single. More information and sign up here. Note that the studio will be unavailable from Jan 16th to Jan 20th.
2023 Plans
I am very excited to announce all of our 2023 plans. See below for information relating to classes, events and other happenings.
Classes
The full class list for 2023 can be found here.
Classes on Mondays (Torquay) and Friday (Geelong) will continue unchanged. We will be reviewing some of the standard and latin routines, as well as including new social dances such as the November Moon Blues and Melbourne Moves to our dance list. If you have been in our introduction classes for the whole year, maybe now is the time to consider moving into our advancement classes?
Kids and Teens Classes are moving to a Tuesday. We are now offering a free class at the beginning of each term to trial ballroom and latin dancing. The remainder of the term will require upfront payment to ensure we can get the most out of the class! See the website here for more information and to book.
New Performance Classes will be running on Tuesday nights. Performance classes are all the things we love about ballroom, plus some jazz, commercial and music theater mixed in. Each cycle of classes culminates in a performance piece. These classes are intended for all ages, and those with a bit of dance experience already. No partner needed. See here for more information.
Experienced Dancers Class will continue in 2023 on Sundays at 6:30pm. The class is meant for those with 4+ years experience, or those doing a Silver and above medal. The class will be led by Mel and Zac. If you are interested in joining the class, please contact us.
Zumba classes continue in Torquay on Monday and Wednesday night. More info here.

Events
We have an exciting events calendar which includes a seasonal social dance, as well as holiday themed parties and our annual medal night in September. Our first event will be on Saturday 4th March and is a Cruise Ship themed social night. More information and the full calendar is available here.
